video: KARA (2019)

KARA, was produced during a one week period in Beijing, China in spring 2019.

It is an interview documentary project with a butcher in the old city of Beijing. Much like a video portrait, the piece captures the life of a girl one month before she leaves the city to move to Hong Kong. Within that framework, the video also explores Beijing’s new ‘clean-up’ policies, within the old city, which lead to many small foreign businesses having to close up shop.

video: PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS (2019)

video project shot over 2018/19.

Private Conversations is a short exploration of the urban world. Shot in Hong Kong and Beijing, the visuals take a look at private sites of the busy cities, which often go unnoticed. A lingering gaze at residential areas devoid of their human occupants.

There are whispers of private moments between inhabitants; aliens who find themselves living isolated in the barrenness of these metropolises, accompanied by a soundtrack which evokes the uncanny.
